Chicago, USAâs Necronomicon Ex Mortis is a bubbling cauldron of 80âs horror movies, 80âs shred goods, modern production, and tight thrash metal. They are now releasing their debut self-titled EP, which serves as the trailer for the epic full-length that is to come out down the road. They mean to draw listeners in and trap them in a classic horror movie, on VHS of course. The four-track record presents a variety of techniques and elements, delivered with precision and professionalism. They detail the tracks listers can expect:
ââEarth Cancerâ is old-school death metal about angering God so he curses the human race with overpopulation; âCelestial Tombâ is a Swedish-style rager with an interesting melodic twist. Lyrically, it was inspired by the chalice dungeons in Bloodborne. âNocturnalâ is a combination of Michaelâs favorite thrash riffs. Itâs about murdering teenagers at a summer camp. âThe Burningâ is about an acclaimed 80s horror movie. Musically, it is the most complex to play, it involves a key change, itâs the fastest song on the EP, and the most interesting.â
Brutal and melodic, Necronomicon Ex Mortis pays homage to the death metal shred gods such as Yngwie, Vinnie Moore, Paul Gilbert, and Derek Taylor as well as horror classics, 80 horror movies, horror games, and HP Lovecraft. Theyâre hoping this EP will gather a small fanbase and help them establish a footing in the metal world.
Produced and mixed by Charlie Waymire at Ultimate Studios with album artwork done by Lucas Korte, the self-titled EP is streaming in full ahead of its release via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.
Necronomicon Ex Mortis is recommended for fans of Black Dahlia Murder, Obscura, Arsis, and Megadeth.

“You might suspect weâre exaggerating, but weâre really not. The four songs on the EP are undeniably sinister and ferocious, but the dominant impression of the music is that itâs exhilarating and exultant, the work of people who decided to put their formidable talents to the test, while having a shitload of fun doing that. When you listen it will make sense to hear that the EP comes recommended for fans of Black Dahlia Murder, Obscura, Arsis, Racer X, and Megadeth.” – No Clean Singingâ
â
â“Inspired by Swedish Death Metal âCelestial Tombâ lays down the blast beats while having an interesting melodic lead that flies into a monstrous extended face melting solo of the highest order, confirming if there was any doubt that these musicians have the capability to step on stages with World Superpower level bands and hold their own. If it wasnât for their love of old school works, you could easily see them going down the more technical road of an Archspire or Inferi, the clues to that murder mystery are all wrapped up within this whirlwind of an opener for all to witness.” – Metal Noiseâ
â
â“the EP feels solid. It has remarkable melodies, a good sound and a cool cover.” – Metal Bite
